Vintage pair of cross stitch embroidered pale blue pillowcases or shams.

A beautiful pair of fine vintage cotton pillow shams or cushion covers, with hand embroidered cross stitch work in a floral design of roses and other blooms, scrollwork border and drawn thread cutwork trellis details.
I think these items are English, as they have the rectangular shape common to most UK pillows.
The pillowcases are powder blue in colour with deeper blue scrolls and flowers in pinks, yellows and oranges. I date them probably to the 1930's or 1950's from the style.
Each sham is backed with a fine plain white cotton with an overlapping flap closure. A few stitches have come undone on one case. The blue front is hand hemmed.
Size approx length 75cm at outer edge, 65cm inside, and width 50cm outside edge, 44 inside. They will fit a small UK size pillow and would be plumped up with a larger pillow.
One pillowcase has two tiny iron spots, see photo.

We are able to post out parcels from Metropolitan France and shipping fees are shown. Please allow plenty of transit time, as European post is notoriously slow!

**Please also note that most deliveries within France and some other European Union countries are usually made to a Pont Relais collection point, there are usually a number of these located in shops and supermarkets in each town, and you will be given the opportunity to specify which one you prefer if this service is available for your location. Otherwise I will select the shop with the longest opening hours within your area. Deliveries to most other European destinations are generally to your doorstep unless it is much cheaper to use Pont Relais.
***Currently deliveries to the UK may be severely impacted by Brexit paperwork and procedural delays, if you are based in the UK please feel free to message me for an estimate of shipping availability, timescale and cost. This situation is becoming easier as time goes by. The sales tax is being included in any sales so there should be nothing extra due to pay when your parcel arrives, subject to customs clearance.
