Antique French bedlinen monogrammed embroidered trousseau bedlinen sheet HM

A beautiful antique French finely worked linen metis trousseau sheet with the initials HM in a large styllised monogram and exquisite hand embroidered sprays of roses at the top, continuing into the corners and turn-down of the sheet.
The top edge of the sheet is bordered in fine, narrow hand worked drawn thread work. This crosses at the corners with a further line of drawn threads and rose embroidery creating a deep turn-down of almost 90cm. Quite fabulous! A second and third intermittent border across the turn-down is embellished with embroidered roses and stumpwork leaves.
The sheet would have originally formed part of a young girls trousseau and was intended for her marriage bed. The fine fabric is probably linen metis (linen woven with cotton) as it has quite a crisp handle and white appearance and has a high thread count, it would have belonged to a lady of quality. All of the sewing and embroidery is hand done on this piece. Probable date of this item is the early years of the Twentieth Century.
The condition generally is good with only slight signs of use. There are a couple of small marks which should come out with the use of a spot stain remover. See photos.
Size of the sheet approx a generous 220cm wide by 332cm long.

The breathable qualities of linen textiles makes them particularly suitable for use in extremes of temperature, since they are cool to use as a single layer of covering in summer heat, and warm in the winter months when layered with other bedlinen.

Deliveries to most other European destinations are generally to your doorstep unless it is much cheaper to use Pont Relais.
Outside of Europe we use La Poste International parcel service.
The sales tax is included in any sales so there should be nothing extra due to pay when your parcel arrives, subject to customs clearance. *The customer is responsible for any import duties incurred for an item.
