Antique French framed pen and ink drawing or etching signed P Jazet 1879

A delightful antique Nineteenth century French engraved drawing or etching. The engraving is mounted in an ornate gilt wood frame which is likely to be original. The drawing is in pen and ink and possibly pencil.
The signature P Jazet 1879 is in the bottom left corner.
This drawing is very detailed and shows a domestic scene with a soldier of rank returning from his campaign and sitting down to a meal with his relative, waited on by the housekeeper.
Jazet was known for his watercolours of military and domestic genres, he was the son of a well renowned engraver so it is probable that this signed piece was done by his own hand. Although I think it is a print, from studying it, it is entirely possible that it could be the original pen and ink sketch.
Without removing it from the frame I can't say more.
The drawing is in what is probably the original frame and it has never been taken out, there is still the original paper backing over the nails, and pieces of calender pasted over the top of this with saints days on it.
The frame is of ornate gilt gesso on wood, unfortunately it has, suffered some damage and loss to one corner and is fragile.

Size approx 31 x 27cm, and the aperture 25 x 20.5cm

We are able to post out parcels from Metropolitan France and shipping fees are shown. Please allow plenty of transit time, as European post is notoriously slow!
*The customer is responsible for any import duties incurred for an item. We will require a telephone number to add to the customs forms, to help prevent any delays or transit problems. If you refuse delivery of an item due to customs costs, please be aware that your parcel's postage costs will be forfeit, although we are happy to refund the item purchase price upon return.
**Please also note that most deliveries within France and some other European Union countries are usually made to a Pont Relais collection point, there are usually a number of these located in shops and supermarkets in each town, and you will be given the opportunity to specify which one you prefer if this service is available for your location. Otherwise I will select the shop with the longest opening hours within your area. Deliveries to most other European destinations are generally to your doorstep unless it is much cheaper to use Pont Relais.
***Currently deliveries to the UK may be impacted by Brexit paperwork and procedural delays, This situation is becoming easier as time goes by. The sales tax is being included in any sales so there should be nothing extra due to pay when your parcel arrives, subject to customs clearance.

Our items are carefully selected antique and vintage pieces from France and they show the character and charm of years of use. We do not sell new or reproduction items so you can expect to find signs of the age and life that the piece has led. We believe this history adds to the story of an item. Obvious damage and faults will always be mentioned in our descriptions but minor age-related condition issues are not considered a detriment.
