Antique rustic French wooden handmade farmhouse harvest trug

A wonderfully rustic and simple antique French wooden farmhouse or garden trug.
This item would probably have been made in the farmhouse workshop, from timbers sourced on the land and using what came to hand. The trug is probably from the late 19th century and is quite crudely fashioned, with iron nails and staple hoops. The handle is made from a bentwood branch stripped of its bark, this is delightfully worn and patinated from many decades of use and is a wide hoop shape.
Condition of the trug is reasonable, and sturdy. There are the usual signs of use and age including some old and dead worm holes, there is a great aged patina to the wood. The hand saw marks are still visible on the planks. Inside the trug the wood is stained, probably from collecting berries. I think this example is pine, although I'm not an expert on timbers.

A very useable caddy for keeping toiletries, craft items, letters and papers, or even cleaning items. The trug form also lends itself to using in the garden for harvesting vegetables and cut flowers, which was most likely the original use.

Size approx 43 x 32cm, 23cm high.

Otherwise I will select the shop with the longest opening hours within your area. Deliveries to most other European destinations are generally to your doorstep unless it is much cheaper to use Pont Relais.
***Currently deliveries to the UK may be impacted by Brexit paperwork and procedural delays, this situation is becoming easier as time goes by. The sales tax is being included in any sales so there should be nothing extra due to pay when your parcel arrives, subject to customs clearance.

Obvious damage and faults will always be mentioned in our descriptions but minor age-related condition issues are not considered a detriment.
