Antique French Art Nouveau impressed pewter dragon decorated candle stick

A heavy and well made large Art Nouveau style antique French candlestick in pewter with decoration of stylised flowers in the art nouveau style and of heraldic dragons.

The form of this candlestick is of a large square saucer with canted corners, and a cup rising from the centre to hold the candle, with a looped handle to allow porting the lit candle when used as a night stick to light the way to bed in the manner of Wee Willie Winkie.
Inside the cup sits a cast pewter cup with stylised heart shape leaf decoration, this holds the candle securely but could also be used as a snuffer when inverted.
Each side of the saucer has a dragon impressed motif, he takes the form of a heraldic beast. The canted corners have a tulip or leaf decoration. The inner borders of the saucer are outlined in twisted rope patterns, while the outer edge has slightly worn zig zag markings. There is further impressed and cast detail of flowers and leaves to the cup stem and the loop handle.
Condition is good, there are some dents and tarnishing to the surface but the item is solid and sound.
Size approx 22cm long, 21cm wide, 11cm high, outer diameter of cup 9cm, inner aperture 2.5cm, suitable for a standard dinner candle. A stub of candle has been used for scale.

Deliveries to most other European destinations are generally to your doorstep unless it is much cheaper to use Pont Relais.
Outside of Europe we use La Poste International parcel service.
The sales tax is included in any sales so there should be nothing extra due to pay when your parcel arrives, subject to customs clearance. *The customer is responsible for any import duties incurred for an item. We will require a PHONE NUMBER to add to the customs forms, to help prevent any delays or transit problems. If you refuse delivery of an item due to customs costs, please be aware that your parcel's postage costs will be forfeit, although we are happy to refund the item purchase price upon return.

Obvious damage and faults will always be mentioned in our descriptions but minor age-related condition issues are not considered a detriment.
