Old vintage French galvanised planters in deep circular basin shape with handles each side for easy moving around.
I use these old metal planters to create displays using old step ladders, they are fabulous with geraniums in the summer, or planted up with Spring bulbs. They also make great bird baths!
The galvanised colour lends itself very well to silver leaved plants such as lavenders, and the size of these makes them ideal for mini cutting salad gardens on a patio or balcony, or herb planters. They also look very stylish either side of an entrance or on a flight of steps.
These items are made from very heavy gauge metal, and the handles are riveted on. There is a bit of an Art Deco vibe to the shape of the handles so I think they are probably from the 1920s or 1930s and I'm told they were used in army field catering kitchens originally.
if you are not a keen gardener, these metal containers also make great storage with an urban loft industrial vibe, and can be utilised as bread proving basins, fruit bowls, general kitchen or pantry storage and display, or even as cloakroom basins. There are a myriad of uses limited only by your imagination.
The containers are currently watertight so if planting up, we recommend punching holes in the base to help prevent your plants getting waterlogged.
Priced individually, we have four of these bowls for sale so use the drop down quantity box to indicate how many you would like to purchase. Any excess carriage charges will be refunded.
We are able to post out parcels from Metropolitan France and shipping fees are shown. Please allow plenty of transit time, as European post is notoriously slow!
*The customer is responsible for any import duties incurred for an item. We will require a telephone number to add to the customs forms, to help prevent any delays or transit problems. If you refuse delivery of an item due to customs costs, please be aware that your parcel's postage costs will be forfeit, although we are happy to refund the item purchase price upon return.
**Please also note that most deliveries within France and some other European Union countries are usually made to a Pont Relais collection point, there are usually a number of these located in shops and supermarkets in each town, and you will be given the opportunity to specify which one you prefer if this service is available for your location. Otherwise I will select the shop with the longest opening hours within your area. Deliveries to most other European destinations are generally to your doorstep unless it is much cheaper to use Pont Relais.
***Currently deliveries to the UK may be severely impacted by Brexit paperwork and procedural delays, if you are based in the UK please feel free to message me for an estimate of shipping availability, timescale and cost. This situation is becoming easier as time goes by. The sales tax is being included in any sales so there should be nothing extra due to pay when your parcel arrives, subject to customs clearance.
Our items are carefully selected antique and vintage pieces from France and they show the character and charm of years of use. We do not sell new or reproduction items so you can expect to find signs of the age and life that the piece has led. We believe this history adds to the story of an item. Obvious damage and faults will always be mentioned in our descriptions but minor age-related condition issues are not considered a detriment.
